Documenting and Preserving Cultural Memories
9-10:30 a.m.

Memory is the capacity to remember, to create and re-create our past. "Cultural memory" is the process by which a society ensures cultural continuity by preserving, with the help of cultural mnemonics, its collective knowledge from one generation to the next, rendering it possible for later generations to reconstruct their cultural identity. Join Richard Fyffe, Librarian of the College and Catherine Rod, Archivist of the College for a presentation on methods for documenting and preserving your family artifacts, particularly in the context of an increasingly digital environment.
