Severin Roberts, Director of the Pioneer Fund
After several years in marketing research and team consulting, Severin made her way into higher education. Her geography and anthropology training are a balanced foundation for her creative and strategic thinking skills; she identifies and describes the patterns that contextualize the Pioneer Fund. Her love of students, learning, and the learning environment is evidenced by her master's research about the geodemography of college towns.
Buddy Boulton, Assistant Director of the Pioneer Fund
Buddy joined the Pioneer Fund team early in 2006. After working in education and customer service, he combined his skills with his love of education and came into institutional advancement. His master’s degree and his own liberal arts education prepared him to share appreciation for the Grinnell experience. Buddy expresses his love of basketball with informal games of noon ball and with the men's basketball team.
Jeffrey Fields '90, Assistant Director of the Pioneer Fund
As an alumnus Jeffrey came back to Grinnell to work in 2007. His professional background in law and his volunteer background as an advocate and fundraiser converged with his passion for education. Jeffrey brings a precise eye to the relationships alumni, parents, and friends keep with the College. He is a consummate supporter of the Grinnell experience and is involved on campus with a number of informal groups of students and of staff.
Joyce Bergan, Pioneer Fund Assistant
A long-standing member and active volunteer in the Grinnell community, Joyce brought her diverse working skills to the College in 1995. In her work with the Pioneer Fund, Joyce is the team's specialist about the information we rely on to make decisions. She regularly guides decision-making, taking a donor-centered approach. Joyce regularly shares her love of the College with volunteers and students working with the Pioneer Fund.
Sara Root, Pioneer Fund Assistant
In spring of 2007 Sara joined the Pioneer Fund team. She has a background in banking and has done extensive work as a volunteer. Sara's educational background sharpened her ability to approach projects with deliberate intent and to see them through to their eventual success. She works closely with staff and volunteers facilitating peer to peer communications.
