A dominating pitching performance and timely hitting led the Grinnell College baseball team past Central College, a team receiving votes in this week’s D3baseball.com national rankings, by a 3-1 score Tuesday afternoon at North Diamond.

Will Pahos ’14 led a tandem of four Pioneer pitchers who shut down the Dutch as the hosts improved to 8-12 on the season.

Grinnell College pounded out 18 hits en route to rallying for an 11-9 non-conference baseball win over Simpson College Thursday at Indianola.

J.R. Dowrick ’15 was 4-for-5 at the plate for the Pioneers with a pair of RBIs, while Mike Nodzenski ’12 and John Spacapan ’15 had three hits each. Matt Skelly ’12, Kainoa Inafuku ’14 and Drew Davis ’13 had two each apiece.

The Grinnell College baseball team tied the program record for runs in a game when the Pioneers rolled to a 21-8 victory over Knox College in the opening game of a twin bill Saturday in Galesburg, Ill.

The second game was tied 8-all in the ninth inning when it was suspended due to darkness.

Grinnell’s 21 runs in the opener matches the output against Knox in a game last season.

The Grinnell College baseball team got off to a fast start, but host Central College rallied for an 8-3 non-conference win Wednesday afternoon in Pella.

The Grinnell College baseball team wrapped up its spring break trip to Florida with a pair of wins and two losses.

The Pioneers defeated Elmhurst College 8-1 and Amherst College 12-11in 11 innings, and lost a twin bill to Trinity College by scores of 5-1 and 10-1.

In the win over Elmhurst, the Pioneers pounded out 16 hits including a 4-for-4 effort by Drew Davis ’13. Mike Nodzenski ’12 and Matt Blumenreich ’13 added three hits...

Grinnell College’s baseball team broke out the bats Wednesday, snapping a six-game losing streak with a 12-5 victory over Hope College at Auburndale, Fla.

The Grinnell College baseball team dropped a twin bill to the University of Chicago Tuesday by scores of 11-2 and 5-0 at Winter Haven, Fla.

In the opener, Chicago scored five runs in the first inning before the Pioneers tallied twice in the fourth. The Grinnell College baseball team gave unbeaten Ramapo College all it could handle Monday, but in the end the Pioneers fell 2-1 in 10 innings and then 12-10 at Myrtle Beach, Fla.

After one inning things looked great for the Grinnell College baseball team, but Benedictine University slowly chipped away and rallied for a 7-6 victory Sunday in Auburndale, Fla.
