Grinnell College left guard Chris Jarmon ’12 (left) and safety Drew Blumberg ’13 (right) have been named to the District 8 NCAA Division III Academic All-District football first team.
The award is presented by Capital One and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). By being named to the first team, Jarmon and Blumberg are eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Jarmon is an English major from Boulder, Colo. (Boulder), while Blumberg is a biological chemistry major from Bishop, Calif. (Bishop Union).
Jarmon is one of 127 players, regardless of NCAA or NAIA level, to be named a candidate for the National Football Foundation National-Scholar Athlete Award. A two-time All-Conference performer, once at Colorado College and again after transferring to Grinnell after CC dropped football, Jarmon is also an Academic-All-Conference performer. He has anchored an offensive line on a team that consistently ranks among the Midwest Conference leaders in passing.
Blumberg, also an Academic All-Conference selection, ranked among the Midwest Conference tackle leaders this season with 85, including 38 solos. He also forced a fumble and recorded an interception to lead the Pioneer defensive charge.
