Grinnell College catcher Mike Nodzenski ’12 has been named a Preseason First-Team All-American by D3baseball.com.

Nodzenski, from Naperville, Ill. (Naperville North) earned All-America recognition as a junior from both ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. He claimed spots on the second and third teams, respectively.

Former Grinnell College baseball standout Robbie Unsell '08 is continuing his success in the British Baseball Federation.

The shortstop is leading his league in runs scored with 29 while also topping the triples chart with four.

The former All-Midwest Conference performer holds Grinnell records for stolen bases in a season with 26 and walks in a season with 30, as well as stolen bases and walks in a game (four each).

A week after being named to the D3baseball.com All-America Team, Grinnell College’s Mike Nodzenski ’12 has earned another top-level honor.

Already enjoying a season full of well-deserved accolades, Grinnell College’s Mike Nodzenski ’12 has added to that list.

Nodzenski, a catcher from Naperville, Ill. (Naperville North), became the second Pioneer baseball player to earn All-America honors when he was named to the D3baseball.com Third Team for the 2011 campaign. Jake Chavez was also a third-team All-American for the Pioneers.

Grinnell College’s Mike Nodzenski ’12 (left), Greg Suryn ’11 (center) and Michael Goldfien ’12 (right) have been named to the Rawlings/ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) All-Central Region Team.

Nodzenski was a first-team selection after being a second-teamer last year, while Suryn and Goldfien are making their first appearances on the squad. Both are second-team selections.

Grinnell College baseball players Mike Nodzenski ’12 and Ben Pope ’12 have repeated as Midwest Conference South Division Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, in a vote of league coaches.

For the second season in a row, Grinnell College’s Tim Hollibaugh has been named the Midwest Conference South Division Baseball Coach of the Year.

Grinnell claimed the South Division title for the third year in a row, including an outright crown for the second straight year, while going 11-1 in divisional play. In the past two years, Grinnell is a combined 23-1 in the South Division.

The Grinnell College baseball team saw its 2011 campaign come to an end Saturday, falling 13-6 at Beloit College in the Midwest Conference Championships.

Ryan Fletcher ’11 (pictured) had a big day at the plate for Grinnell with three hits, while Drew Davis ’13, Michael Goldfien ’12, Matt Blumenreich ’13 and Kainoa Inafuku ’14 had two hits apiece.

Grinnell managed 17 hits in the game, but Beloit also had 20.
