Crowd and speakers flank pool during dedication ceremony

The Grinnell College Department of Athletics is in the midst of transferring services from the former Physical Education Complex (PEC) to the new Charles Benson Bear ’39 Recreation and Athletic Center.

The PEC pool is now closed, and the Bear Center pool will open Mon., Aug. 16. To access the pool, swimmers need to go through the east building of the Bear Center and use the underground link to the natatorium.

Lockers in the Bear Center will be issued to faculty, staff, and fitness center members through the equipment issue room beginning Fri., Aug. 13 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and 4-5 p.m.

When College classes are in session, pool hours for faculty, staff, and students will be:

• Monday-Friday: 6-9 a.m., 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m.

• Saturday-Sunday: Noon to 9 p.m.

Academic classes and varsity team practices or games may preempt community use at any time. Also, facility hours during scheduled College breaks will be posted on the web site at www.grinnell.edu
