Robert Seer ’12 (pictured) had another impressive performance for Grinnell, coming up with 10 catches for 142 yards and three touchdowns. All of the TD passes came from Mike McCabe ’13, who completed 26-of-45 aerials for 337 yards.

Logan Granera ’12 also had 10 catches for 98 yards and Nick Hinojosa ’13 rushed 17 times for 47 yards.

Defensively, Drew Blumberg ’13 had 11 tackles for Grinnell, while Jeremy Wiles ’14, Colton Feller ’14, Brian Taylor ’13 and Ryan Creps ’12 came up with nine stops apiece and Max Keller ’14 eight.

The McCabe to Seer TD connection occurred twice in the third period, once on an 11-yard pass at the 11:40 mark and again at the 6:32 mark on a 34-yarder. Granera had the point after kick on the first TD.

The first touchdown drive was sparked by a 51-yard pass from McCabe to Cody Weber ’13, while those two connected on a 13-yard aerial during the second scoring drive.

Trailing 47-13 after three periods, Grinnell added a touchdown at the 14:03 mark of the fourth quarter on McCabe’s 9-yard pass to Seer. A 17-yard pass play between those two helped spark the drive, which was capped by Granera’s extra point.

Monmouth added two touchdowns later in the period to improve to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Midwest Conference. Grinnell is also 1-1 in all games and 0-1 in the league.

Grinnell plays at Ripon College next Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
