Grinnell College's men's basketball team got another win, and David Arseneault '09 reached a milestone in the process.Arseneault (left) moved into the all-time NCAA Division III top five for career assists by dishing out 11 in a 117-82 victory over Lake Forest College on Saturday, Jan. 31, in Darby Gymnasium. He now has 800 assists for his career, tying him for fifth with David Genovese of Mt. St. Vincent.Grinnell, which improved to 8-3 in the Midwest Conference and 11-6 overall, was sparked by a balanced scoring attack that was led by Bobby Long's '09 (right) 22 points. That moved Long into sixth on Grinnell's all-time scoring chart. He passed Dennis Blyly and now had 1,571 for his career.John Grotberg '09 added 19 points, Arseneault tallied 18 and Kale Knisley '11 scored 14. Long also had four steals and Knisley pulled down seven rebounds. Lake Forest, which is 4-6 in the MWC and 5-12 in all games, got 34 points from Travis Clark.The game was close in the early going before Grinnell went on a 12-2 run to break things open. Up by just three points at 21-18, Long hit two free throws and Knisley made consecutive buckets for a 27-18 edge. After Lake Forest scored, Knisley and Long drained consecutive 3-pointers to make it 33-20 with 9:26 to go in the half. Grinnell kept up the momentum and led 60-45 at halftime.The second half was more of the same, as the Pioneers gradually pulled away and went ahead by as many as 40 before winning by 35. Grinnell returns to the home court on Monday, Feb. 2, with a non-conference game against William Penn University. The 7 p.m. contest will be shown on the Mediacom Connections
