Was a three-year letterwinner in football and a two-year letterwinner in basketball and tennis at Black River Falls High School. Was named 2nd Team All-Conference and Academic All-State in basketball and was also a team captain his senior year. Was a 2nd Team All-Conference DB in football his senior year as well. Was class Valedictorian, Student of the Year, a member of National Honor Society as well as Investment Club President and editor of his school's newpaper. Was also named Coulee Conference Scholar Athlete his senior year.
