Was a three-year letterwinner in basketball at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. Was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team and was named All-Tournament Team for the Winter Shootout. His team was the 4A State Runner-Up and he was named the Player of the Game for his team's state semifinal game. Was in the top 10 percent of his class academically and was also a member of National Honor Society.
