High School:
Was a three-year letterwinner in basketball at Montezuma High School. Was named 1st Team All-Conference his junior and senior years and was 1st Team All-Substate his senior year. Was named a team captain his senior year and was also the Honor "M" Award recipient his senior year. Was a member of his high school's National Champion Business Management Team and was a six-time All-State speech and drama participant.
