Description of the Oakland Acres Cross Country Course

Footing:
The footing is outstanding. This course has watered fairways and is consistent and relatively firm.

First Mile:
The first straight is approximately 600 meters and covers two fairways. The first turn is a gradual right. The course if virtually flat through 1000m as the runners run an out and back toward the start line. At about 1100m, the runners make a left turn and go downhill along the no. 9 fairway. At the bottom of the hill, the runners pass the no. 8 green and make a short, steep climb to the top of the dam by the big pond. There are two hundred meters to the mile mark, which is mostly flat.

Second Mile:
A short, steep uphill occurs after running around the pond. After this climb, the runners are on flat ground for the remainder of this mile. At about 1.5 miles, the runners move off of the main loop onto the western finger loop that travels out the no. 15 fairway. This loop is relatively flat going out, and with a slight climb coming back to the primary loop. The women will run a shorter version of this western finger loop, quickly rejoining the course after a 180 degree turn to the left. As the women re-join the primary loop, the 2 mile mark occurs as the runners approach the start line. Both men and women then make a left to begin the loop again.

Third and fourth Miles:
Both men and women repeat the first outside loop (with the women again cutting the western finger loop short). The men return to the initial loop for the final mile, while the women go directly into the finish chute.

Last mile for men:
Runners begin the initial loop a for a third time. At approximately 600m, they will stay to the left and follow the white dotted line for the final finish loop to the finish.
