Jared Dye ’12 (pictured) fired an 8-over-par 79 Saturday to spark the Grinnell College men’s golf team at the Ryerson Classic at Bos Landen in Pella.

Dye’s performance gave him a two-day score of 165, good for a 27th-place tie.

Next in line for the Pioneers was Jon Cohen ’14, who had a 168 and tied for 35th. Ian Luby ’13 shot a 173 to tie for 52nd, and Travis Palmer ’14 had a 204 to place 66th.

Jon Cohen ‘14 (pictured) led the Grinnell College men’s golf team Friday at the Ryerson Classic hosted by Central College at Bos Landen.

Cohen fired a score of 85. Jared Dye ‘12 was next in line for Grinnell with an 86, Ian Luby ‘13 had an 89 and Travis Palmer ‘14 shot a 97.

Grinnell had a team score of 357.

The event concludes Saturday.

Led by Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Peter Marsho ’12, the Grinnell College men’s golf team has officially accepted its honor as the top academic team in the nation.

The Pioneers were named the 2011 Academic National Champion for all of NCAA Division III recently. Coach Brian Jaworski’s squad unveiled the hardware on Wednesday at the College.
