A trio of Grinnell College Pioneers shot scores in the 70s Saturday as the men’s golf squad finished 10th at the Scot-Fire Invitational hosted by Knox College and Monmouth College.
Peter Marsho ’12 (pictured), who had a 77 on Saturday, finished with on overall score of 6-over-par 113 to tie for 23rd individually. Alex McDonald ’11 had a 78 on Saturday for an overall score of 122, good for 57th-place tie, and Jon Cohen ’14 had a 79 for an overall score of 121, which put him in a 53rd-place tie.
Rounding out Grinnell’s placings were Ian Luby ’13 with a 118 to tie for 42nd and Chris Marsho ’14 with a 125 to earn 70th-place honors.
Grinnell shot 471 as a team. The winner was Central College with a 431, and the individual champ was Wes Hillen of Millikin with a 103.
Grinnell also had a second team playing, and that squad was led by Kale Knisley ’11, who shot 128.
Other Pioneers were Travis Palmer ’14 (133), Jimmy Borrasso ’12 (135), Logan Granera ’13 (137) and Jared Dye ’12 (138).
The Pioneers compete in the 2011 Midwest Conference Championships this coming Thursday through Saturday at Rockford, Ill.
