The Grinnell College men’s golf team shot a 339 and is tied for 21st place after the opening day of action at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Friday.

Leading the Pioneers’ was Peter Marsho ’12, who recorded a 6-over-par 78 and is tied for 26th in the 120-golfer field. Logan Granera ’12 is next in line with an 84, good for a 79th-place tie, while Jared Dye ’12 and Chris Marsho ’14 had an 88 and 89, respectively. Dye is tied for 100th and Marsho 105th.

Rounding out Grinnell’s lineup was Ian Luby ’13, who had a 92 and is tied for 111th.

Grinnell is tied with Robert Morris University in the team standings, and just two shots behind Knox College and Elmhurst College.

Wes Hillen of Millikin shot a 1-under-par 71 to hold the individual lead.

St. Francis University of Illinois, Nebraska Wesleyan and Illinois Wesleyan White share the team lead with 305s. Wheaton College is one shot back in fourth.

The tourney concludes Saturday.
