WAVERLY – Peter Marsho ’12 fired a 3-over-par 75 to lead the Grinnell College men’s golf team on the opening day of the Wartburg College Invitational in Waverly.

Marsho, who is tied for 19th, had a 38 on the front nine and 37 on the back.

Jimmy Borrasso ’12 recorded his best round of the year by six strokes with a 78, going 40 on the front and 38 on the back. He is tied for 41st.

Ian Luby ’13 also had a season-best score of 81 with a 38 on the front and 43 on the back. He is tied for 66th.

Chris Marsho ’14 added a 43-39-82 and is tied for 72nd, while Jon Cohen ’14 went 42-41-83 and is tied for 80th.

Grinnell had a team score of 316 and is 14th in the 18-team field. Wartburg leads the meet with a 297, one shot ahead of Kirkwood Community College.

The individual leader is Coe College’s Garrett Cross, who shot a 69.

Ethan Kenvarg ’12 and Logan Granera ’12 played as individuals for the Pioneers. Kenvarg had a 41-42-83 and is tied for 80th, while Granera is tied for 93rd with a 44-43-87.

The meet concludes Sunday.
