The Grinnell College men’s soccer team lost a 4-0 decision to Carroll University Sunday at Waukesha, Wis., as the winners wrapped up the Midwest Conference championship.

Carroll scored in the 10th and 42nd minutes for a 2-0 halftime lead, and added goals in the 53rd and 81st minutes to complete the scoring.

Carroll won the shots battle 14-2, with Rockne Decoster ’15 and Marshall Botto ’15 getting shots for Grinnell.

Evan Wright ’12 (pictured) scored a pair of goals as the Grinnell College men’s soccer team earned a 2-2, double-overtime tie at Beloit College Saturday afternoon.

Wright opened the scoring in the 16th minute on an assist by Joseph Brown ’15, but Beloit tied it a minute later and it was 1-all at halftime.

Beloit added a goal in the 78th minute but Grinnell was not to be outdone, as Wright hit the back of the net on a corner kick...

The Grinnell College men’s soccer team dominated the shots department, but in the end Illinois College came away with a 1-0 Midwest Conference victory Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Ill.

Grinnell outshot the hosts 23-11, with 16 of the Pioneers’ shots on goal. But the hosts got a goal in the 56th minute by Alex Gagnor for what proved to be the game-winner.

Grinnell is now 1-4 in the MWC and 3-9-1 overall, while Illinois...

Grinnell College struck first, but then Monmouth College came back with two goals by Logan Simpson to record a 2-1 Midwest Conference men’s soccer win Tuesday afternoon on the Fighting Scots’ field.

Joseph Brown ‘15 (pictured) opened the scoring for Grinnell after a scoreless first half. He found the back of the net in the 54th minute for his second goal of the year. Omeed Kashef ‘14 had the assist, his first in 2011.

Considering the Grinnell men’s soccer team hadn’t won a Midwest Conference game this season and Lake Forest College had just lost one game overall in 2011, the odds may not have appeared to be in the Pioneers’ favor entering Saturday’s contest at Springer Field.

But the hosts didn’t let those facts faze them in the slightest, and the end result was a thrilling 2-1, last-second double-overtime victory over the Foresters.
