Seventeen Grinnell College men’s swimmers and divers tasted victory as the Pioneers cruised to a 124-83 victory at Macalester College Saturday afternoon.
Individual champs for Grinnell were Marco Fulgoni ’12 in the 100-yard freestyle (50.15), Beck Ringdahl-Mayland ’13 in the 400 individual medley (432.74), Michael Brus ’14 in the 1650 freestyle (16:39.12), Sebastian De Pascuale ’12 in the 100 backstroke (1:01.42), Dylan Gray ’14 in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes (1:01.88 and 2:14.02, respectively), Joe Lytle ’14 in the 200 butterfly (2:07.14) and 200 backstroke (2:06.56), Ethan Drutchas ’13 in the 50 freestyle (22.96), Colin Yarnell ’12 in one- and three-meter diving (227.05 and 221.20, respectively), Chris Kaiser-Nyman ’13 in the 500 freestyle (5:10.38) and Austin Cote ’15 in the 100 butterfly (55.82).
Ben Weideman ’15, Ringdahl-Mayland, Emanuel Spooner ’13 and Gus Fulgoni ’15 combined to win the 200 medley relay (1:41.42), Weideman, Ringdahl-Mayland, Jerry Brown ’14 and Thomas Lankiewicz ‘12 won the 800 freestyle relay (7:36.56) and Marco Fulgoni, Kaiser-Nyman, Michael Schoelz ’12 and Joe Sinnwell ’12 were first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.74).
Individual runners-up for Grinnell were Lankiewicz in the 1650 freestyle (17:32.26), Erik Dixon-Anderson ’14 in the 100 backstroke (1:01.48), Kaiser-Nyman in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.63), Spooner in the 200 butterfly (2:15.19), Schoelz in the 50 freestyle (23.16), Pun Winichakul ’13 in the 100 freestyle (51.83), Will Elsas ’14 in the 200 backstroke (2:10.64), Eric Mistry ’14 in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.53), Collin Kramer ’15 in the 500 freestyle (5:11.97), Brus in the 100 butterfly (56.68) and De Pascuale in the 400 individual medley (4:52.78).
Grinnell also took second in the 200 medley relay with James Kent ’14, Gray, Cote and Drutchas (1:41.92), 800 freestyle relay with Gus Fulgoni, Kramer, Marco Fulgoni and Brus (7:38.87) and 200 freestyle relay with Cote, Chris Dorman ’12, Sam Sherwood ’12 and Gus Fulgoni (1:32.83).
Grinnell, 4-1 in dual meets, will swim at Coe next Saturday.
