Emanuel Spooner ’13 (pictured) won three events while helping the Grinnell College men’s swimming and diving team to a 111-65 victory over Coe College Saturday in Cedar Rapids.

Spooner won the 100-yard butterfly (56.54) and 200 individual medley (2:07.58) and joined Rick Bigler ’13, Dylan Gray ’14 and Ethan Drutchas ’13 on the first-place 200 medley relay (1:43.26).

Seventeen Grinnell College men’s swimmers and divers tasted victory as the Pioneers cruised to a 124-83 victory at Macalester College Saturday afternoon.

Grinnell College’s Thomas Lankiewicz ’12 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.

Lankiewicz, a senior from Oconomowoc, Wis. (Kettle Moraine), had a huge weekend for the Pioneers as they won the team title at the Grinnell College Invitational.

One year after surrendering the team title at its own invitational, the Grinnell College men’s swimming and diving team has reclaimed it.

The Pioneers tallied 1290.5 points to work past runner-up Gustavus Adolphus College, which had 1239.5, to win the seven-team event Saturday at Russell K. Osgood Pool. It was Grinnell’s third title at the meet since 2005, and its second in the past three years.

The Grinnell College men’s swimming and diving team rode eight event victories to the first-day lead at its own invitational Friday at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

Thomas Lankiewicz ’12 (pictured) and Michael Brus ’14 both had a hand in four victories, and the Pioneers swept all three relays as they piled up 606 points. That’s seven points in front of runner-up and defending champion Gustavus Adolphus College in the seven-team meet.
