The Grinnell College men’s swimming and diving team crowned four champs en route to defeating host Carleton College 692-646 Saturday in a dual meet.
Winners for Grinnell were Patrick Thomas ’10 (pictured) in the 500-yard freestyle (5 minutes, 17.12 seconds), Cyrus Mistry ’11 in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.23), Thomas Lankiewicz ’12 in the 400 individual medley (4:28.93) and Beck Ringdahl-Mayland ’13 in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.05).
Ringdahl-Mayland also earned three runner-up finishes, those being the 200 breaststroke (2:22.87) and as part of the 200 medley relay (1:43.43) and 800 freestyle relay (7:37.38). Tommy Olson ’10, Michael Schoelz ’12 and Marco Fulgoni ’12 completed the 200 medley relay, while others on the 800 freestyle relay team were Thomas Lankiewicz ’12, Ethan Drutchas ’13 and Paul Gagne ’13.
Fulgoni also took second in the 50 freestyle (22.58) and was on the runner-up 200 freestyle relay team (1:29.61), while Lankiewicz claimed second in the 200 butterfly (2:11.39) and 200 backstroke (2:07.31). Rounding out the 200 freestyle relay team were Olson, Drutchas and Pun Winachakul ’13.
Rounding out the list of runners-up were Mistry in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.06), Mark Sullivan ’10 in one-meter diving (2:07.30) and Nick Smith ’10 in three-meter diving (2:26.40).
On the women’s side, Kelly Bruce ’12 placed first in one- and three-meter diving with scores of 229.35 and 245.60, respectively.
Other champs for Grinnell were Morgan Bober ’12 in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.73 and the 800 freestyle relay team of Jacqueline Anderson ’11, Morgan Horton ’11, Meghan McDoniel ’10 and Chloe Moryl ’10 (8:17.90).
Runners-up included Martha Reilly ’12 in the 1650 freestyle (18:59.18), Bober in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.38), Horton in the 200 butterfly (2:23.79) and McDoniel in the 500 freestyle (5:28.44).
Carleton won the team title by a score of 713-602.
