Grinnell College’s Elliott Czarnecki ‘15 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week.

 

Czarnecki, from Sioux Falls, S.D. (O’Gorman), went a perfect 3-for-3 at No. 1 singles against MWC foes over the weekend. He posted wins over opponents from Knox College, St. Norbert College and Lawrence University to improve to 17-13 on the season. He also had a doubles win against Knox.

APPLETON, Wis. – The Grinnell College men’s tennis team went a perfect 3-for-3 in matches with Midwest Conference North Division teams over the weekend.

The Pioneers stopped Ripon College 8-1 on Friday, and then came back Saturday to top St. Norbert College 7-2 and Lawrence University 8-1.

Grinnell, ranked 15th in the Central Region of NCAA Division III, improved to 21-5 with the wins.

The Grinnell College men’s tennis team blanked Knox College 9-0 in Midwest Conference South Division play Friday afternoon.

Doubles winners for Grinnell were the teams of Elliott Czarnecki ’15-Michael Cole ’12, Ishan Bhadkamkar ’13-Benjamin Charney ’15 and Eric Ritter ’12-Daniel Nellis ’13.

Singles winners were Czarnecki, Ritter, Nellis, Bhadkamkar, Charney and Cole.

After falling behind 3-0 in doubles play, the Grinnell College men’s tennis team roared back to defeat Coe College 5-4 in a battle of regionally-ranked squads Saturday in Grinnell.

Three of the singles wins were in three sets as the Pioneers, ranked 15th in the Central Region of NCAA Division III, improved to 17-5. Coe, rated 12th, dropped to 16-4.

Grinnell College’s men’s tennis team opened Midwest Conference South Division play on a convincing note Saturday, blanking Illinois College 9-0 and then defeating Lake Forest College 7-2.

“These wins were a great way for us to start in defending our Midwest Conference South Division title,” said Grinnell coach Andy Hamilton. “I’m especially pleased with the way we bounced back after being upset by a talented Wheaton team on Friday.”...
