Asst. Coach Rick Mitchell

Rick Mitchell joins the Grinnell College men's tennis program as an assistant coach after getting his USNTA certification in 2009. As a player, Mitchell played in tournaments across Iowa and Texas, earning a top 100 ranking in the state of Iowa in 1981.

He is also an assistant for the Pioneer women's basketball program and was a Club and City League basketball coach for six years in Arlington, Texas, before moving back to Grinnell.

A 1980 graduate of Grinnell High School, Mitchell attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo where he graduated in 1983 with an AAA Degree in commercial art/business management.

Mitchell, a graphic artist for 26 years, runs a business from home. In 2004, the Mitchells started a small-scale farm that provides natural products locally. He and his wife, Martha, have two children, Anthony and Cecilia.
