Four Grinnell College entries advanced to the round of 32 before falling at the USTA/ITA Regional Tennis Championships this weekend at St. Peter, Minn.
In singles play, Michael Cole ’12 (pictured and Martin Dluhos ’12 advanced to that round with a pair of victories each.
Cole and Dluhos also achieved that feat in doubles, posting a first-round win and then losing to the top seed from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Also making it to the doubles round of 32 were Connor Cunningham ’15 and Aaron Lapkin ’15.
Winning one match each in singles for Grinnell were Cunningham, Lapkin and Elliot Czarnecki ’15.
The Midwest Open Championships, being held in conjunction with the USTA/ITA event, also had a handful of Grinnell entries.
Winning one singles match each were Ethan Ratliff-Crain ’15, Jimmy Yang ’15 and John Gernon ’15. Charlie Wilhelm ’15 teamed up with Yang to post a doubles victory.
