A trio of third-place finishes led the way for the Grinnell College men’s track and field team Saturday at the Monmouth College Fighting Scot Invitational.
Placing third were Noah DeLong ’11 in the 800-meter run (1:58.08), Eric Ragan ’12 in the 400 hurdles (57.26) and Sam Goldstein ’11 in the triple jump (42-9 ¾). The effort by Goldstein (pictured) ranks seventh on the Pioneers’ all-time chart.
Jake Lindstrom ’14 was fifth in the pole vault (13-3 ½), while sixth went to the 4x400 relay team (3:56.43) and Griffin Lentsch ’13 in the high jump (6-3 ¼).
Placing seventh were the 4x100 relay team (46.47), Gavin Warnock ’14 in the long jump (21-4) and Ben Brewer in the javelin (157-10). Brewer’s effort ranks seventh all-time for Grinnell.
Scott Phillips ’11 was ninth in the 100 (11.27).
As a team, Grinnell placed sixth in the team standings with 33 points. The winner was Monmouth with 208.5.
The Pioneers return to Monmouth this weekend for the 2011 Midwest Conference Championships.
