Stewart Lands Performer of the Week Honors

With a strong performance in much less than favorable weather conditions, Willie Stewart '08 turned in a stellar performance in the javelin throw during competition at last weekend's NW Collegiate Open, hosted by Northwest Missouri State University. He won the event with a throw of 191'07" and was recognized for his performance by being named the Midwest Conference Men's Field Event Performer of the Week.

The throw landed the Grinnell, Iowa, native an NCAA provisionally qualifying spot. It is the best throw in the MWC so far this season and is currently third-best in all of Division III.

The Pioneers are scheduled to return to competition on April 21st when they host the Dick Young Classic beginning at 9:00 a.m.
