The Grinnell College softball team lost a pair of contests at Knox College Friday, falling 3-2 and 11-3.
Amanda Stromquist ’12 (pictured) and Brianna Gallo ’11 each had four hits on the day.
In the opener, Knox scored a run in the first inning and two in the second for a 3-0 lead.
Grinnell battled back with a run in the third as Aniela Wendt ’14 scored, and got a run in the sixth on an RBI double by Hannah Ney ’11.
In the second game, Grinnell got all its runs in the top of the first. With one out, Gallo singled, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a double by Stromquist. Jayme Wiebold ’12 followed with a double to score Stromquist, and Ney bashed a double to score Wiebold.
However, Knox scored a run in both the first and second innings, tallied three more in the third and scored six in the fifth to end the game.
Knox is now 2-9 in the Midwest Conference and 7-18 overall, while Grinnell dipped to 0-13 in the MWC and 0-29 overall. The Pioneers play a twin bill Sunday at Loras College.
