Born 8/27/1985 in Waterloo, Iowa … Daughter of Steve and Andrea King … Has a sister, Valerie Essaf (25).

High School:
Attended Northern University High School, where she lettered in softball four years, volleyball three years and basketball and tennis once. Was an Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union E. Wayne Cooley Award finalist and was academic all-state in softball and basketball. In softball, was all-conference four times, all-state three years and twice named her team's MVP. Was also all-conference in volleyball and played for a state-qualifying team. Aside from athletics, won the Bausch & Lomb Science Award, Albert A. Potter Science Award and Allen Health Systems Endeavor Recognition Project Award. Was named the Heartland District Exchange Club Youth of the Year, National Honor Society President and All-State Speech performer.
