The Grinnell College volleyball team came up with a key Midwest Conference victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Carroll University in a five-set thriller at Darby Gymnasium.

Grinnell, which won by scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 23-25 and 15-9, is now 4-2 in the league and 6-13 in all matches. Carroll dipped to 2-3 in the MWC and 9-12 overall.

The Grinnell College volleyball team returned to its winning ways Friday night, stopping Ripon College in four sets at Darby Gymnasium.

Scores, in favor of Grinnell, were 20-25, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-16 as the Pioneers snapped a three-match losing streak.

Grinnell moved to 3-2 in the Midwest Conference with the win and 5-13 in all matches, while the Red Hawks fell to 0-3 in league play and 4-18 overall.

St. Norbert College swept Grinnell College in three sets during Midwest Conference volleyball action Saturday afternoon at De Pere, Wis.

The Green Knights, who improved to 2-0 in the MWC and 14-4 overall, won by scores of 25-10, 25-21 and 25-11. Grinnell is now 2-2 in the league and 4-13 in all matches.

The Grinnell College volleyball team won the opening set Friday night, but Lawrence University rallied to take the next three for a Midwest Conference victory in Midwest Conference play.

The Vikings, who improved to 2-0 in the league and 9-9 in all matches, won by scores of 24-26, 27-25, 25-11 and 25-23. Grinnell dipped to 4-12 overall and 2-1 in the MWC.

The William Penn University volleyball team posted a four-set non-conference victory over the Grinnell College Pioneers Saturday at Darby Gymnasium.

Set scores, in favor of the Statesmen, were 25-16, 25-12, 6-25 and 25-21. William Penn is now 10-10, while Grinnell moved to 4-11.

Grinnell College’s volleyball team is now a perfect 2-for-2 in Midwest Conference play this season after disposing of Knox College in four sets Thursday night at Darby Gymnasium.

Grinnell, which won by scores of 25-12, 22-25, 25-12 and 25-11, improved to 4-10 overall while Knox fell to 0-12 overall and 0-2 in the MWC.

The Grinnell College volleyball got its 2011 Midwest Conference season off to a solid start Tuesday night, rolling past Beloit College in four sets on the latter’s court.

Grinnell, now 3-10 overall, won by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-15 and 28-26.

The Grinnell College volleyball team lost four matches at the Macalester Invitational over the weekend.

The Pioneers nearly got a victory over the host school on Saturday, falling in five sets. The Scots won 25-16, 16-25, 25-20, 18-25 and 15-12. Claire Weidman ’15 (pictured) had 11 kills for Grinnell, while Olivia Wilks ’12 added 36 assists and Kate Duran ’12 tallied 14 digs. Rebecca DeGroot ’14 contributed five blocks.

The Grinnell College volleyball team was perfect on Saturday, winning both matches of its own tournament against Westminster and Iowa Wesleyan at Darby Gymnasium.

Olivia Wilks ’12 (left) and Kate Duran ’12 (right) were named to the all-tournament team after the Pioneers swept Westminster 25-22, 25-19 and 25-22 and then won a five-set thriller over Iowa Wesleyan 19-25, 25-16, 10-25, 25-22 and 16-14.

After getting swept with ease by Cornell College earlier in the week, the Grinnell College volleyball team put up a tough fight with the Rams Friday before losing in four sets at the Grinnell Tournament at Darby Gymnasium.

Cornell defeated the Pioneers in four sets by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-22.
