The Grinnell College volleyball team claimed second place and Claire Reeder ’11 (pictured) earned all-tournament team honors at the Dominican University Star Classic on Saturday.

Grinnell won both its matches Friday and split on Saturday to finish with a 3-1 mark at the event. The host school was crowned the champ with a perfect 4-0 record.

Grinnell opened Saturday’s action with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-12 loss to Dominican. Reeder and Bonnie Kircher ’12 had eight and seven kills, respectively. Olivia Wilks ’12 had 25 assists, while Kate Duran ’12 and Kircher added 11 and 10 digs, respectively. Gillian Dryjanski ’12 had three total blocks.

In the win over Lawrence, Dryjanski, Kircher and Reeder all had seven kills. Dryjanski hit .500 and Reeder .467. Wilks added 25 assists, while Reeder served three aces and had three total blocks. Duran added 10 digs.

Jacy Lawrence of Dominican was named the tourney MVP. Benedictine University was third at the tourney with a 2-2 mark, Lawrence took fourth at 1-3 and Principia College placed fifth at 0-4.

Grinnell, 3-2 overall, hosts a triangular this coming Saturday at Darby Gymnasium. The Pioneers face Rockford College at 9 a.m. and William Penn University at 1 p.m. Rockford and William Penn play at 11 a.m.
