Grinnell College’s Megan Huey ’12 (left) and Michelle Briggs ’13 (right) have been named to the 2012 All-Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Team.

Both players were named to the second team.

Huey, a 5-11 forward from Wichita, Kan. (West Des Moines Valley), was fourth in the conference in rebounding and blocks with 8.3 and 1.1 per game, respectively. She also ranked among the league leaders in scoring (11.1 points per game)...

The Grinnell College women’s basketball team finished one of its best seasons in recent history on a high note Saturday afternoon, knocking off Lake Forest College 59-53 on Senior Day at Darby Gymnasium.

The Pioneers finished the campaign with marks of 11-7 in the Midwest Conference and 12-11 overall, which are both the best records for the squad since the 2003-04 campaign.

Losing the turnover battle 21-10, the Grinnell College women’s basketball team suffered a 62-56 setback to non-conference foe MacMurray College Monday at Darby Gymnasium.

The Grinnell College women’s basketball team lost a heart-breaker Saturday afternoon, falling by a 50-49 margin at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill.

Tolu Alabi ’13 scored a game-high 14 points and had four steals for the Pioneers, who continue to fight for a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament with a mark of 10-7 in the league and 11-10 overall.

In a meeting at Monmouth College two weeks ago, the Grinnell College women’s basketball team used a big second-half rally to pull out the victory.

It was a case of déjà vu Wednesday at Darby Gymnasium, as Grinnell’s Ashley Jeannin ’12 scored the game’s final 10 points to help the Pioneers rally for a 60-57 victory.
