Midwest Conference leader St. Norbert College posted a 51-35 victory over visiting Grinnell College Saturday afternoon in De Pere, Wis.
Rebecca DeGroot ’14 led Grinnell in scoring with 11 points, while Abby Jaeger ’14 added seven. Michelle Briggs ’13 grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots for the Pioneers, who fell to 9-6 in the MWC and 10-9 overall. Megan Huey added seven boards, Ashley Jeannin ’12 dished out four assists and Tolu Alabi ’13 came up with two steals.
Krista Pelky scored 14 points for the Green Knights, who moved to 14-1 in the league and 16-4 overall.
DeGroot scored Grinnell’s first nine points on a trio of treys, making it a 9-6 Pioneer lead with 16:13 left. However, St. Norbert responded with a 10-0 run and was ahead 27-18 at halftime.
The hosts opened the second half with three consecutive points and Grinnell never got closer than 10 the rest of the way.
The Pioneers return to Darby Gymnasium on Wednesday to entertain Monmouth College. Game time is 5 p.m.
