In a meeting at Monmouth College two weeks ago, the Grinnell College women’s basketball team used a big second-half rally to pull out the victory.

Michelle Briggs ’13 posted her fifth double-double in a row, but it wasn’t enough as the Grinnell College women’s basketball team lost a 63-46 decision at Ripon College Friday in Midwest Conference play.

Briggs had 12 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four blocks for the Pioneers, who fell to 9-5 in the MWC and 10-8 overall. Megan Huey ’12 added eight points and six rebounds. Huey also had three steals, as did Abby Jaeger ’14....

History repeated itself for the Grinnell College women’s basketball team Tuesday as the Pioneers rolled past Knox College 87-67 at Darby Gymnasium.

For the second game in a row, Rebecca DeGroot ’14 led the team in scoring, while Megan Huey ’12 and Michelle Briggs ’13 again posted double-doubles as the Pioneers improved to 9-4 in the Midwest Conference and 10-7 overall.

One week after being named the Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week, Grinnell College’s Megan Huey ‘12 has gained national attention.

Megan Huey ‘12 recorded her fourth consecutive double-double, Michelle Briggs ‘13 her third and Rebecca DeGroot ‘14 scored a game-high 19 points.

But that was not enough as the Grinnell College women’s basketball team lost a 62-58 nail-biter at Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon.

Grinnell College’s Megan Huey ‘12 has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week.

Huey, a 5-11 forward from Wichita, Kan. (West Des Moines Valley), had a huge weekend performance as she recorded double-doubles in Grinnell victories over Beloit College and Lawrence University.

In a victory Friday, Grinnell College’s Megan Huey ’12 posted a double-double.

She repeated that feat Saturday afternoon and was joined in that accomplishment by teammate Michelle Briggs ’13 as the Pioneers topped Lawrence University 62-49 at Darby Gymnasium.

Their efforts pushed Grinnell to 7-3 in the Midwest Conference, the Pioneers’ best start in league play since the 2003-04 season. Grinnell is 8-6 in all games.

Megan Huey ’12 (pictured) erupted for a double-double with game-highs of 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Grinnell College women’s basketball team to a 67-39 victory over Beloit College Friday at Darby Gymnasium.
