Stephanie Rouse ’13 (pictured) recorded the fourth-best 6-kilometer time in Grinnell College women’s cross country history Friday to lead the Pioneers at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.

Rouse ran the course in 22:39.2 to place 11th in a field of 323 runners. Sarah Burnell ’14 also had a stellar performance and recorded a time that also placed in the top 10 all-time at Grinnell. Her clocking of 23:10.2 was good for 24th place.

Hannah Colter ’12 was close behind in 29th place in 23:23.6, Diana Seer ’15 was 45th in 23:42.4 and Meg Rudy ’14 was 52nd in 23:49.6.

Others in the mix for Grinnell were Metzere Bierlein ’13, who was 59th in 23:58.7, and Cassidy White ’14, 65th in 24:05.4.

The efforts of the Pioneer individuals led the team to a fifth-place finish in the 27-team field with 152 points. Olivet Nazarene University was the champ with 51 points.

The individual winner was Karen Grauel of Truman State University, who finished in 21:53.4.

The Pioneers do not compete again until Oct. 8 when they go to the Wartburg Invitational at Waverly.
