In a field loaded with nationally- and regionally-ranked teams, the Grinnell College women’s cross country squad emerged 18th of 43 schools at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational Saturday at Lake Breeze Golf Course.

Stephanie Rouse ’13 had a strong effort for Grinnell, finishing 31st in a field of 395 runners with a clocking of 22:49.50.

Sarah Burnell ’14 was next in line for Grinnell, placing 83rd in 23:27.45, while Hannah Colter ’12 was 90th in 23:30.30 and Kate Edeker ’12 (pictured) was 135th in 23:58.52. Edeker’s time boosted her from the 33rd to 20th on Grinnell’s all-time chart.

Rounding out the Pioneers’ scorers was Diana Seer ’15, who was 188th in 24:31.97.

Meg Rudy ’14 added a 222nd-place finish in 24:50.21 and Cassidy White ’14 was 272nd in 25:29.54.

The Pioneers finished with 491 points, just 10 behind 17th-place Rhodes College. The champion was Washington University with 61 points.

The individual champ was Erica Jackey of Washington, who finished in 21:38.13.

Grinnell travels to Ripon, Wis., to take part in the Midwest Conference Championships on Oct. 29.
