The Grinnell College women’s cross country team will look to a group of experienced returnees and some talented newcomers in its quest for a successful campaign in 2011.
Among the returnees are a pair of All-Midwest Conference performers, Hannah Colter ’12 and Sarah Burnell ’14.
Other top returnees include Meg Rudy ’14, Cassidy White ’14, Metzere Bierlein ’13, Kate Edeker ’12 and Catherine Bisignano ’12.
“The leadership from the older runners has been great,” said Grinnell coach Evelyn Freeman.
Among the top newcomers are Stephanie Rouse ’13, who is coming off a strong track season at Grinnell, Diana Seer ’15, Eloise Miller ’15 and Matea Voyce ’15.
“We have 45 women on the team, which is the largest squad we’ve ever had,” said Freeman. “Things are going great. We have 15 first-years on the squad and everything is coming together quite well.”
The Pioneers are looking to regain the MWC title this season.
“We lost the championship last year, so getting it back is high on our list,” said Freeman. “We also want to improve our standing at the regional meet and do our best to qualify for nationals.”
