The Grinnell College women’s cross country team had a strong showing at the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College on Saturday, placing third in the 10-team field.
The Pioneers tallied 86 points and were just 13 behind runner-up Gustavus Adolphus and 17 in back of champion Wartburg.
Stephanie Rouse ’13 again led Grinnell with a fifth-place finish in a time of 23:25. Sarah Burnell ’14 (pictured) was 14th in 23:59 and Hannah Colter ’12 was right behind her, placing 15th in 24:00.
Rounding out Grinnell’s list of scorers were Metzere Bierlein ’13 (25th in 24:44) and Kate Edeker ’12 (27th in 24:55). Edeker’s time moves her up to 33rd on the Pioneers’ all-time chart.
Others in the mix for Grinnell were Meg Rudy ’14 (32nd in 25:12) and Diana Seer ’15 (36th in 25:26).
The individual champ was Wartburg’s Emily Eimers, who ran 22:53.
Grinnell is slated to compete in the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational next Saturday.
