Grinnell College’s Elizabeth Burnett ‘13 (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Golf Performer of the Week.

Burnett fired a career-best score of 79 on the opening day of the Wartburg Invitational and followed that with an 81 to post her best career two-day total of 160.

One day after setting a school record, the Grinnell College women’s golf team bettered that mark on Sunday.

The Pioneers fired a sizzling 330 during the final round of the Wartburg College Invitational, three shots better than Saturday’s opening round of 333.

Mallory Messin ’13 led the way for Grinnell with a 14-over-par 158, with rounds of 80 and 78. That put her in a 13th-place tie.

The Grinnell College women’s golf team set a school record Saturday by shooting a 333 at the Wartburg Fall Invitational.

The Pioneers’ previous mark was 336, which they established twice last year.

Elizabeth Burnett ’13 (pictured) shot a 7-over-par 79, which ranks among the top 10 in school history. She had a 43 on the front nine and 36 on the back and is tied for 14th place individually.

After a successful campaign in 2010, the Grinnell College women’s golf team will look to build on that in 2011.

Last season, the Pioneers set a school record with a score of 336 at the Knox College Invitational. A day later, Grinnell equaled that mark while finishing second at the Monmouth College Fighting Scot Invitational.

Mallory Messin ’13 (pictured) fired an 88 to lead the Grinnell College women’s golf team at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling Sunday in Normal, Ill.

Messin tied for 58th in the field. Natalie Klee ’13 added an 89 to tie for 66th, Stephanie Spahr ’18 fired a 94 to tie for 88th and Elaine Teo ’12 shot a 101 to finish 102nd.

The individual champ was Amber Conrad of Olivet Nazarene, who had a 2-over-par 74.

Natalie Klee ’13 (pictured) recorded a two-day total of 184 to lead the Grinnell College women’s golf team at the University of California-Santa Cruz Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

Natalie Klee ’13 (pictured) fired a 91 to lead the way for the Grinnell College women’s golf team at the University of California-Santa Cruz Spring Invite on Monday.

She was followed by Stephanie Spahr ’14 with a 95, Elizabeth Burnett ’13 with a 97 and Elaine Teo ’12 with a 103.

Mallory Messin ‘13 (pictured) of Grinnell College earned all-conference honors for the second year in a row Sunday as she placed fourth in the 2010 Midwest Conference Championships at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill.

Messin had a three-day score of 262, shooting rounds of 82, 90 and 90. Also earning All-MWC recognition was Stephanie Spahr ‘14, who tied for sixth with a 283. She had rounds of 95, 100 and 88.
