Grinnell College’s Mallory Messin ’13 (pictured) is atop the entire field after the opening day of the Central College Fall Invitational women’s golf event Friday at Pella.
Messin recorded a score of 10-over-par 82 with a front nine score of 39 and back nine of 43. Two other golfers are one shot behind.
Hailey Speck ’15 of Grinnell was fourth with an 85 after rounds of 47 and 38, while Stephanie Spahr ’14 is ninth with a 45-45-90.
Elizabeth Burnett ’13 added a 46-49-95 to be tied for 15th, while Alex Plemmons ’15 is tied for 17th after a 47-49-96.
On the individual front, Pioneers Natalie Klee ’13 and Kayleigh Kresse ’15 are tied for sixth with 87s. Klee went 42-45 and Kresse had a 43-44.
Grinnell is second in the six-team field with a 352, five shots behind leader Central College.
The meet concludes Saturday.
