Mallory Messin ’13 (pictured) fired an 8-over-par 80 to lead the Grinnell College women’s golf team on the second day of the Midwest Conference Championships Saturday at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Ill.
Messin now has a two-day total of 165, putting her in second place and seven strokes behind the leader, Angelina Parrinello of Carroll University.
Elizabeth Burnett ’13 is tied for fourth with a 170 after rounds of 81 and 89, while Alex Plemmons ’15 is tied for sixth with a 176 after golfing a 94 and 82.
Rounding out Grinnell’s lineup are Hailey Speck ’15 (tied for 12th with a 95-88-183), Natalie Klee ’13 (tied for 18th with a 92-95-187) and Stephanie Spahr ’14 (tied for 22nd with a 92-99-191).
Grinnell remains second in the team standings with a 689, 14 shots behind two-time defending champion Carroll.
The tourney concludes Sunday.
