A quick start sent Principia College to a 3-0 victory over the Grinnell College women’s soccer team Monday in Elsah, Ill.
The hosts got goals from Kelly DeWindt in the second and seventh minutes for a 2-0 lead, and then Alicia Girbes-Pierce scored in the 55th minute on a penalty kick to complete the scoring.
Principia won the shots battle 20-3. Rachel Weinstein ’13 had two of Grinnell’s shots, while Nicole Sipfle ’13 had the other. Keeper Jordan Young ’14 recorded eight saves for Grinnell.
The Pioneers are now 7-4-2 on the season, while Principia moved to 10-3-1.
Grinnell has a pair of Midwest Conference games this weekend, playing at Beloit College on Saturday and at Carroll University on Sunday.
