Four members of the Grinnell College women’s swimming and diving team took home titles from the Pioneer Invitational Saturday in Cedar Rapids.

The meet had been slated to be in Grinnell, but was moved when the pool here was closed due to duct work repair.

Beth Gillig ’15 won two crowns for Grinnell, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle (25.96) and 1000 freestyle (11:21.30)

One day after breaking the 100-yard backstroke school record, Grinnell College’s Nikki Pyle ’14 has another Pioneer mark to her credit.

Pyle swam the 200 backstroke in 2:12.37 Sunday at the 2012 Midwest Conference Championships in Appleton, Wis., to break the Grinnell mark of 2:12.56 set by Julia McHugh in 2007. Pyle finished second in the event.

Morgan Bober ’12 (pictured) set a new Midwest Conference Championships record in the 100-yard butterfly to lead the Grinnell College women’s swimming and diving team at the 2012 league meet Saturday in Appleton, Wis.

Bober won the race in 59.19, breaking the old mark of 59.36 set by Lauren Tracy of Carroll in 2006.

A trio of runner-up finishes led the Grinnell College women’s swimming and diving team to second place after the opening day of the 2012 Midwest Conference Championships Friday at Appleton, Wis.

Morgan Bober ‘12 and Beth Gillig ‘12 were each on the runner-up 200-yard freestyle and 400 medley relays that had clockings of 1:41.11 and 4:02.50, respectively.
