Grinnell College’s Kelly Bruce ’12 (left) captured the three-meter diving crown with a meet-record score of 389.25 at the Pioneer Classic swimming and diving event Friday at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

That effort helped Grinnell to first place in the team standings with 241 points, 51 in front of runner-up Coe College in the 13-team field.

Two other Pioneers finished in the top five in diving, as Emma Falley ’15 was fourth with a score of 328.60 and Balyssa Bell ’12 took fifth with a 305.45.

Grinnell’s next-highest finisher after Bruce was the 400-yard medley relay team’s third-place performance. Nikki Pyle ’14, Danielle Phillips ’15, Morgan Bober ’12 (right) and Beth Gillig ’15 teamed up to swim the race in 4:15.94.

Placing fourth for Grinnell were Gillig in the 500 freestyle (5:34.79), while fifth went to the 200 freestyle relay team of Gillig, Callie Eyman Casey ’14, Phillips and Pyle (1:46.01) and Phillips in the 200 individual medley (2:21.05).

The meet concludes Saturday.
