The Grinnell women’s swimming team took runner-up honors in a trio of events Tuesday during a dual meet with Connecticut College at Naples, Fla.

The Pioneers had second-place efforts from Beth Gillig ’15 in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.45), Nikki Pyle ’12 in the 100 backstroke (1:04.38) and the 200 medley relay squad of Sara Hannemann ’14, Emily Bajet ’12, Kristina De La Torre ’14 and Lauren O’Hair ’12 (1:58.46).

Placing third for Grinnell were Morgan Bober ’12 in the 100 butterfly (1:04.77) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.15), Grace Gallagher ’14 in the 100 freestyle (59.63) and the 200 freestyle relay team of O’Hair, Emily Twedell ’15, Annie Tomlinson ’12 and Callie Eyman-Casey ’14 (1:49.97).

Individuals placing fourth were Pyle in the 50 freestyle (27.10), Danielle Phillips ’15 in the 200 individual medley (2:23.83), Gillig in the 100 butterfly (1:04.90), Tomlinson in the 100 freestyle (59.80) and Katherine Chung ’12 in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.42).

Grinnell also got fourth-place efforts from the 200 medley relay team of Pyle, Phillips, Bober and Gallagher (2:04.67) and 200 freestyle relay team of Hannemann, Jenna Beeler ’12, Lindsay Schwartz ’13 and Carrie Sibbald ’15.

Connecticut College won the meet 160-45.

The Pioneers are in action on Jan. 20-21 when they host the Grinnell Invitational at Russell K. Osgood Pool.
