Grinnell College’s Imelda Wistey ’14 claimed third place and earned All-America honors in the 100-yard breaststroke at the 2011 NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.
She swam 1:02.81 in the final Friday night at Allan Jones Aquatic Center. The winner was April Whitley of Emory, who recorded a clocking of 1:02.11.
Wistey is the first Grinnell swimmer to earn All-America honors since 2001 when Rachel Sellon did so in the 200 butterfly.
Wistey will conclude the NCAA Championships Saturday when she competes in the 200 breaststroke, an event in which she’s seeded ninth.
