Pioneers Fall 142-95 against Connecicut College
The Grinnell College women's swimming and diving team returned to action following a lengthy layoff, but fell to Connecticut College in a dual meet in Naples, Fla., on January 5th, 142-95
Meghan McDoniel '10 was part of the only two first-place finishes for the Pioneers as she won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:10.93 and was also a member of the 200 medley relay "A" team which won the race in a time of 1:54.00. She also captured second in the 200 IM (2:17.87).
Valerie Stimac '09 finished with a pair of second-place finishes (50 and 100 freestyle), while also a member on the winning 200 medley relay "A" team. Julie McHugh '07 was also on the relay team, and brought home a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:03.37) as well as fourth-place finish in the 50 freestlye (25.98).
Amy Hadow '10 was the fourth member of the 200 medley relay team as she also took third in the 100 butterfly. The 200 freestlye relay "A" team of Emily Summers '10, Margaret Smith '09, Chloe Moryl '10, and Erin Croco '07 finished second in a time of 1:46.00.
Grinnell will be back in action this Friday and Saturday when they host the Grinnell College Invitational. Starting times for Friday are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and at 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
