Eloise Miller ’15 (pictured) shattered the Grinnell College school record en route to earning a victory in the women’s triple jump at the Cornell College Hilltop Open this weekend.
Miller had a winning leap of 35-5, breaking the previous Pioneer best of 33-9 ½ by Maria Stanislaw in 2001.
Grinnell had one other winner, Hannah Colter ’12 in the 3000-meter run. She had a time of 10:57.67. Also faring well in the 3000 were Cassidy White (fourth in 11:24.49) and Lauren Emery ’14 (eighth in 12:16.01).
Placing second was the 4x400 relay team of Miller, Christine Ajinjeru ’14, Sarah Burnell ’14 and Sarah Jensen ’15 (4:13.92), Burnell in the mile (5:12.55) and Jordan Young ’14 in the shot put (36-7 ¾). Burnell’s mile time ranks second all-time at Grinnell, while the 4x400 team ranks fourth.
Stephanie Rouse ’13 was fourth in the mile in 5:30.20 and Meg Rudy ’14 was seventh in 5:37.46. Rouse now ranks 10th on Grinnell’s all-time chart.
In the pole vault, Sachi Graber ’12 was fifth with a performance of 9-6 ¼ and Elsa Goldman ’15 took eighth at 8-0 ½. Graber is now sixth on Grinnell’s all-time chart and Goldman is 10th.
The Pioneers host their own Darren Young Classic next Saturday.
