DES MOINES – Grinnell College women broke a pair of school records at the Jim Duncan Invitational track and field meet Saturday at Drake Stadium.

Eloise Miller ’15 shattered the school mark in the triple jump with a runner-up leap of 36-2. That topped the previous Pioneer best of 34-4 ¾ set by Skye Langs in 2003.

Also getting a new school mark was Jordan Young ’14 in the hammer throw. She had an effort of 130-0 to finish sixth in the event and beat her previous school record of 125-11, set earlier this season.

Other Pioneers who made their mark on the school’s all-time lists were Christine Ajinjeru ’14, Athena Carlson ’15 and the 4x100-meter relay team of Emily Clennon ’14, Elsa Goldman ’15, Isabelle Miller ’13 and Eloise Miller.

Ajinjeru placed sixth in the 400 in 58.75 to improve on her second-best time in school history and Carlson went 9-1/4 in the pole vault to tie for eighth and move up to eighth all-time in Pioneer history.

The 4x100 squad was eighth in 51.59, the seventh-best effort in Grinnell history.

Other top efforts by Grinnell came from Sarah Burnell ’14 in the 800 (fourth in 2:16.12), Sachi Graber ’12 and Goldman in the pole vault (sixth and tie for eighth, respectively, both with leaps of 9-1/4), Young and Megan Huey ’12 in the shot put (seventh and eighth with throws of 36-11 and 36-7 ¾, respectively), Isabelle Miller in the 400 hurdles (ninth in 1:08.37) and Heather Kubicek ’12 in the hammer throw (ninth with a toss of 119-11).
