Two Grinnell College women’s track and field performers have made breaking school records a common theme in 2012.

Sarah Burnell ’14 and Eloise Miller ’15 continued that trend Saturday afternoon at the Iowa State University Qualifier last chance indoor meet in Ames.

Burnell shattered her own school mark in the 800-meter run, which she set earlier this year, when she won her heat in 2:15.51. Her previous best was 2:16.52.

In the meantime, Miller broke her previous mark of 36-10 ½ in the triple jump by bounding 37-1 ¼. That placed her second in the event.

The 4x400 relay team of Christine Ajinjeru ’14, Miller, Burnell and Isabelle Miller ’13 ran 4:03.72. They finished eighth in the event.

On the men’s side, Kyle Moorehead ’15 jumped onto Grinnell’s all-time 800 list when he ran the race in 1:57.63. That placed him second in his heat and put him sixth all-time at Grinnell.
