Yet another school record tumbled for the Grinnell College women’s track and field team at the 2012 Midwest Conference Indoor Championships Saturday at Jacksonville, Ill.
The quartet of Isabelle Miller ’13, Christine Ajinjeru ’14, Eloise Miller ’15 and Sarah Burnell ’14 destroyed the school mark in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:04.33. That was good for second place in the event and beat the old mark of 4:06.53, set earlier this season.
Burnell added a third-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:16.75, while fourth place went to Ajinjeru in the 400 (1:00.90) and Eloise Miller in the triple jump (35-11 ½).
Ajinjeru’s time ranks third all-time at Grinnell.
Sachi Graber ’12 was fifth in the pole vault (9-5 ¾), while those placing sixth were Isabelle Miller in the 400 (1:01.75), Hannah Colter ’12 in the 3000 (10:53.19) and the distance medley relay team (13:17.52). The distance medley’s clocking ranks eighth in Pioneer history.
Athena Carlson ’15 was seventh in the pole vault (8-11 ¾) and Emily Clennon ’14 was eighth in the 200 (27.55). Clennon’s time is third on Grinnell’s all-time chart.
Grinnell finished fifth in the team standings with 72 points. Monmouth College defended its title with 224 points.
