Athletics Phase II
Construction of Phase II of the Athletics and Fitness Center began in April 2008 to complete our plans for a 275,000 square foot facility. Phase I, completed in 2005, includes performance and practice gyms and a fitness facility. Phase II will provide a field house with an indoor track and four tennis courts, sports locker rooms, training room, PE faculty offices, and a natatorium with a 50-meter pool, team and community locker rooms, classrooms and meeting rooms. This project is registered with LEED and includes a 132-well geothermal field and a system for capturing rain and water condensate from machinery for irrigating the football field and flushing some of the field house toilets. We expect to conclude the project late summer 2010.
Both phases of the center were designed by Sasaki Associates and Pelli Clark Pelli. Weitz Corporation served as contractor for Phase I and Neumann Brothers is serving as contractor for Phase II.
